Judi Segall, MSW, CO-OP
Prior to joining the MIT Ombuds Office in 2014, Judi Segall served as Ombudsman and Director of the Stony Brook University Ombudsman Office from 1997-2014. In that role Judi provided conflict management services to Stony Brook faculty, staff and students. In addition Judi served as a clinical faculty member for the School of Social Welfare for 16 years, teaching in the Masters of Social Work program. Prior to her appointment as Stony Brook University Ombudsman, Judi was Executive Assistant to the Vice President for Student Affairs for nine years, specializing in strategic planning and organizational and program development.
Ms. Segall has been active in the dispute resolution professional community for many years and served as President of the University and College Ombuds Association (1999-2001), President of The Ombudsman Association (2005), and the inaugural President of the International Ombudsman Association (IOA) in 2006. Currently Ms. Segall serves on a number of IOA committees and is a lead faculty member on the teaching team for IOA's training and professional development program.
Ms. Segall is a Certified Organizational Ombudsman (CO-OP) and holds a Masters in Social Work from Stony Brook University and certification in mediation from the Center for Mediation in Law. Underlying her work as an Ombudsman, teacher and trainer, Judi is committed to advancing constructive conflict management skills and advancing positive change within all realms of our society.
